Are you attending the Supercomputing Conference (SC25) this year, taking place from November 16 to 21 in St. Louis, USA?
We would love to meet you at our booth and during the conference program!
November 16–21, St. Louis, USA
Visit the IT4Innovations Booth #4604
At our booth, we will present the computing infrastructure of the Czech National Supercomputing Center IT4Innovations, which provides a wide range of services to Czech users within the e-INFRA CZ framework.
You’ll learn about our most powerful supercomputer, KAROLINA, and the first Czech quantum computer, VLQ, which was officially launched in September 2025.
We’ll also introduce IT4Innovations’ involvement in European initiatives in supercomputing, artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies, and our experts will showcase research activities within international projects, including the newly approved Czech AI Factory.
Stop by for IT4Innovations socks – and new VLQ luggage tags!
During the conference, you can also take part in three prize draws sponsored by the MAX and EXA4MIND projects. Each draw gives you a chance to win JBL Tune Buds 2 wireless earphones or an Anker MagGo Power Bank 10K.
Visit our booth to learn more about what MAX and EXA4MIND are working on and find out how to enter the raffle.
Draws will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:00 a.m. – don’t miss your chance to win!
You can also collect a stamp for your European Supercomputing Passport. IT4Innovations is one of the destinations in this prize game organized by European supercomputing centers.
IT4Innovations in the Conference Programe
Lubomír Říha and Jakub Homola will present their research on “Utilizing Sparsity in the GPU-Accelerated Assembly of Schur Complement Matrices in Domain Decomposition Methods” on Wednesday, November 19, in the session Algorithms: Sparse Matrix and Tensor Computation. Their work focuses on improving the efficiency of computing Schur complement matrices, a key component of domain decomposition methods used to solve complex engineering problems on supercomputers. By cleverly exploiting matrix sparsity, they achieved up to fivefold acceleration in GPU-executed code segments and over threefold acceleration of the entire assembly process in the context of the FETI method – significantly enhancing the use of modern computing architectures.
WHEN: 19 November, 3:30–5:00 PM
WHERE: Room 260–267
We will be featured twice in the conference poster section: Jan Martinovič, Kateřina Slaninová, and Pavlína Smolková will present “Scalable Alternative Route Computation with ACE: A C++17 Library for HPC Traffic Simulations.” The ACE (Asynchronous Communication and Execution) library in C++17 enables scalable asynchronous task processing on supercomputers. It accelerates alternative route computations in distributed traffic simulation workflows. For Prague and the Central Bohemian Region simulations (up to 25 million routes), ACE achieved a speedup of up to 15 times for the Prague scenario and a 1.45 times improvement for the regional one – significantly enhancing the efficiency and scalability of HPC simulations.
The EPICURE project and e-INFRA CZ supported this research.
WHEN: 18 November, 5:15–7:00 PM
WHERE: Atrium on the second floor
Pavlína Smolková and Kateřina Slaninová will also present “European Open Web Index: Large Complex Graph Visualisation.” This research focuses on the visualization and processing of extremely large networks. The experiments, performed on the Karolina supercomputer, involved visualization of the European Open Web Index from the OpenWebSearch.eu project, addressing performance and scalability challenges in visualizing networks with hundreds of thousands to millions of nodes.
WHEN: 18 November, 5:15–7:00 PM
WHERE: Atrium on the second floor
Karina Pešatová is co-organizing two Birds of a Feather sessions.
Building Sustainable HPC Outreach: Reinvent, Reuse, Repurpose on Wednesday, November 19, she will present outreach materials created within the Superheroes for Science project and discuss effective strategies for reusing and adapting existing materials to meet diverse HPC outreach needs.
WHEN: 19 November, 12:15–1:15 PM
WHERE: Room 126
The second section is Super(computing)heroes, which will take place on Thursday, November 20.
This community event will feature inspiring women from the HPC community — from academia and research laboratories to HPC centres and industry, including representatives from Microsoft Corporation and AMD. The aim is to promote the visibility of successful women in the HPC world through a panel discussion, providing role models for younger colleagues.
WHEN: 20 November, 12:15–1:15 PM
WHERE: Room 261-262-265-266
