High-Performance Computing (HPC) powers today’s breakthroughs — from artificial intelligence to advanced simulations in climate science, energy, automotive engineering, healthcare, life sciences, materials research, and digital manufacturing. 

At VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, you can study the Computer Science Master’s programme and choose either the Artificial Intelligence or Quantum Informatics specialisation.

Artificial Intelligence
Focused on advanced methods of data processing, machine learning, and intelligent systems.

Quantum Computing
Focused on quantum computing principles, quantum algorithms, and related computational methods.

Research and Infrastructure  
Teaching is supported by experts from IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center, located on the VSB-TUO campus. IT4Innovations operates Karolina and Barbora supercomputers, and the VLQ quantum computer. Students have access to modern computational infrastructure during their studies.

You can study within EUMaster4HPC, a joint European Master’s programme in High-Performance Computing with AI and quantum computing specialisations.
EUMaster4HPC provides you with extra-curricular activities, mobility support, and access to a strong European network of experts.

Within EUMaster4HPC, students:

– Study at two European universities
– Receive two Master’s degrees
– Participate in summer schools, workshops and other joint activities
– May take part in internship mobility
– Receive mobility grants

Year 1 Foundations

Choose one of 9 partner universities 

EUMaster4HPC brings together 9 awarding universities from various European countries. Among them is VSB – Technical University of Ostrava (VSB-TUO), alongside University of Luxembourg, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Politecnico di Milano, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Sorbonne University, Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, AGH University of Krakow, and Freie Universität Berlin

All partner universities offer a shared fundamental HPC curriculum. At VSB-TUO, you will study within the Computer Science Master’s Programme at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Standard English-language programme: 50,000 CZK per semester.


Students enrolled in EUMaster4HPC:

Tuition fees waived.
– Mobility grants provided.
