SUPERHEROes 4 SCIENCE
Do you like stories? The adventures of the heroes in our comics may seem far-fetched to you. We’ve added a good dose of imagination, but they’re based on the real work of scientists. Curious readers will meet superheroes who turn science fiction into reality. Discover how artificial intelligence can search for specific objects in an image and learn about the basic principles of the quantum world through the game ‘Quantum Trap’. Come and discover where science, technology and the world of comic book heroes meet.

HOW DO SCIENTISTS WORK ON A SUPERCOMPUTER?
The supercomputer is working even when you can’t see it. The data centre is empty most of the time because scientists use the supercomputer remotely – from their offices or from home. We’ll show you how they connect to it, how they run complex calculations, and how working with a supercomputer differs from working with a standard computer.

Find out how supercomputers are helping to find new drugs to combat viruses!
How can we stop a virus? And can a new drug be found using a supercomputer? In the AVITHRAPID project, we combine computational biology, chemistry and experimental research to speed up the search for new antiviral drugs. At our stand, we’ll show you how scientists use computer simulations to identify sites where a drug molecule might bind, and how they subsequently verify their predictions. Come and see real-life simulations and try your hand at being a molecular detective. Children will be guided through the story of antiviral drug development by a comic strip with a fill-in-the-blank quiz and a game, in which they can test their knowledge and quick thinking.

floreon+ Smart cities
The Floreon+ system is being developed for monitoring, modelling, forecasting and providing support in crisis management, primarily in the Czech Republic. The system includes processes for running automated and user-initiated simulations that utilise IT4Innovations’ supercomputers. The system currently integrates hydrological modelling, real-time traffic monitoring, air quality monitoring, and landslides and ground subsidence. Effective urban transport solutions are one of the most hotly debated topics of recent times. In this area, we utilise and modify traffic modelling algorithms with the aim of monitoring the overall state of the transport network and subsequently optimising traffic flow in cities. Robot football isn’t just a game – it’s also research. VOICEBOT IN EMERGENCY CALLS

What might an emergency call look like in the near future? We will introduce you to a project carried out under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, the primary aim of which is to bring artificial intelligence (AI) technologies closer to practical use on emergency hotlines, particularly for the fully automated or assisted handling of incidents that generate a large volume of calls and consequently lead to emergency hotlines becoming overloaded. The presentation will be given by Václav Svatoň.
