Science is a real treasure – not material wealth, but the kind that helps us change the world for the better. Bring the whole family to experience an evening full of smart entertainment, discovery, and technology that normally remains hidden behind screens. At IT4Innovations you will discover supercomputers, a quantum computer, artificial intelligence, and robots – in a way that is both playful and easy to understand.

Come and see for yourself that science can be an adventure full of imagination – and that true wealth lies in our minds.

Entry to this event is free.

The IT4Innovations programme is open to the public during Researchers' Night, for which no registration is required. However, registration is required for parts of the programme that are only held in the Czech language and have limited capacity: Prohlídka infrastruktury, Workshop: Průzkumníci AI, Workshop: Kvantová revoluce (you can find more information about these on the Czech website here).

DeepFake

Take a moment to discover how easy — yet frightening — it is to transform yourself into your favourite film or music star. We will demonstrate how straightforward it is to replace someone in a video with your own face, or even the face of a well-known politician, causing a scandal and influencing public opinion.

Superheroes 4 Science

Do you like stories? Even the adventures of the heroes in our comics might seem unrealistic to you. We've used plenty of imagination, but the stories are based on the real work of scientists. Readers can learn about the superheroes who are turning science fiction into reality. Discover how artificial intelligence can search for specific objects in images, and learn basic quantum concepts through the Quantum Trap game. We also have a computer game that will test your ability to program a supercomputer. Come and find out how modern technology can make even the most challenging tasks easier!

How do researchers use a supercomputer?

Supercomputers constantly process large amounts of computational tasks, but the data room is usually empty. This is because scientists work with supercomputers remotely from their offices or homes.

We will show you how researchers connect to a supercomputer, how they launch demanding computational tasks, and how programming on a supercomputer differs from programming on a conventional computer.

Robot football

Robot football is a constantly evolving field of science that deals with the uncertain and dynamic environment of interacting agents - robots. It combines many seemingly disparate areas of interest, such as research on multi-agent systems, real-time camera image processing, controlling and steering autonomous robots, path planning and cooperation between robots on the playing field, obstacle avoidance, and often involves machine learning methods, otherwise known as AI - artificial intelligence. At IT4Innovations, we are developing an in-house robot football 3D simulator based on these scientific methods.

Come try it out, create your own game strategy for your robot team, and try to beat your siblings, parents, or even our home team from IT4Innovations in robot football!

PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF SUPERCOMPUTERS

See supercomputers in action and discover how they are changing the world! Win great prizes!

Find out how supercomputers are helping companies to develop new technologies and streamline production. What about quantum computing? It's no longer confined to laboratories; it's slowly becoming part of everyday practice and opening up new possibilities.
Meanwhile, children can embark on fun missions to help a supercomputer rescue a golden rubber duck, which they can then take home as a reward. We will also use chocolate coins to teach them the basic principles of quantum computing and offer lots of other games, including supercomputer puzzles, memory games, quizzes and brain teasers, where they can compete for hundreds of great prizes!

Grab a mini shovel — it's time to plant!
During Researchers' Night, children can plant seeds in pots and take them home to care for. They will discover that caring for a plant is fun, but also involves taking on a daily responsibility. They will also learn how smart technologies can help with this kind of care. The European Digital Innovation Hub Ostrava is helping to introduce these technologies into companies and public administration. Who knows? Maybe one day you'll have a smart flowerpot at home that waters your plants all by itself!

Examining your retina by training neural networks

Bonmedix, together with artificial intelligence experts from IT4Innovations, is working on a project focused on an expert system that uses modeling and training of neural networks for the classification and segmentation of images used in the examination of patients' retinas in the context of diabetic retinopathy (diabetic blindness). Our supercomputers help to train and validate individual models more accurately and, ultimately, to massively increase examination capacity in the future, enabling screening for all patients regardless of the availability of specialists and the early detection of serious eye diseases related to age or diabetes.

Floreon+ Smart Cities
The Floreon+ system is being developed for monitoring, modeling, prediction, and support in crisis situations, primarily in the Czech Republic. The system includes processes for running automated and user-initiated simulations that utilise IT4Innovations supercomputers. The system currently integrates hydrological modeling, monitoring of the current traffic situation, air quality monitoring, and landslides and land subsidence. Effective urban transport solutions are one of the most debated topics of recent times. In this area, we use and modify algorithms for transport modeling with the aim of monitoring the global state of the transport network and subsequently optimizing traffic flow in cities. Come and find out more!

EOSC – The wealth of nature
Discover the wealth of knowledge that can be gained when each of us gets involved in science. Thanks to citizen science, anyone in the world can help scientists make new discoveries and advances. Come explore citizen science projects and experience what it's like to be part of a real scientific community.

Don't hesitate to come with your family, friends, and children.

Admission to the event is free.

We look forward to seeing you!
