IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center is a leading research, development, and innovation centre active in the fields of High-Performance Computing (HPC), Quantum Computing (QC), Data Analytics (HPDA), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and their applications, with strong international links employing more than 150 scientific, technical, and administrative employees. At present, IT4Innovations is running two supercomputers, namely Karolina (15.7 PFlop/s) and Barbora (849 TFlop/s) and is a member of the LUMI consortium operating the largest EU LUMI supercomputer. At the beginning of 2024, the Quantum Computing Lab was established at IT4Innovations, and one of the new European quantum computers, called VLQ, is currently being installed at IT4Innovations.
We are seeking candidates for the Advanced Data Analysis and Simulations Laboratory to fill the position of:
Postdoc in the Quantum Computing Lab
(the position is suitable for both women and men)
for project REFRESH - Research Excellence For REgion Sustainability and High-tech Industries (CZ.10.03.01/00/22_003/0000048), research program 3 - Research in the field of digitalization and transformation of the energy in the position of Postdoc EL (D)
Activity description:
- participation in research activities related to advanced computing methods within the Quantum Computing Lab,
- development and application of mathematical structures and models relevant to computational sciences, with potential extensions to quantum computing,
- use of mathematical methods and basic programming skills (MATLAB, Python) to support modeling, simulations, and algorithm development,
- gradual involvement in the study and exploration of quantum computing principles, with opportunities for further training and development,
- collaboration with other partners,
- collaboration on applied and scientific research outputs,
- collaboration with other members of the research team,
- participation in the implementation of collaborations within their research programme,
- undertaking domestic and international business trips,
- participation in the preparation of (inter)national project proposals,
- independently addresses complex scientific research tasks in their field and actively publishes,
- conducts research and publishes under the guidance of excellent researchers and senior researchers,
- continuous work on increasing his/her qualification.

We require:
- PhD in computer science and/or related areas (applied mathematics, statistics, physics, etc),
- demonstrable publication activity,
- experience with the development of mathematical background of quantum computing,
- experience of quantum computing didactics (lecturer),
- experience with the preparation and implementation of international research projects,
- willingness to continue self-education and work in the team,
- English language - good working knowledge,
- H-index of at least 5, or 50 citations of their own work, demonstrated involvement in basic/applied/contract research projects,
- completion of foreign research stays totaling at least 3 months.
