Dear friends of the national supercomputing centre,
As we approach the end of the year and look ahead to 2026, we are pleased to share our final newsletter of 2025, featuring the most important developments from the world of supercomputing, artificial intelligence and quantum technologies. This year has been exceptional – Europe entered the exascale era, the Czech Republic welcomed its first quantum computer, VLQ, and our supercomputers have continued to help science and industry push the boundaries of what is possible.
In this issue, you will find inspiring examples of how the Karolina, LUMI and Barbora supercomputers are being used in biomedicine, materials science, artificial intelligence and particle physics, alongside news from grant calls and important information for users (including the planned LUMI maintenance shutdown). We also bring you a report from the Supercomputing Conference in St Louis, USA, where we presented our activities not only at our booth but also within the conference programme itself.

We wish you an enjoyable read, a wonderful festive season and a happy New Year 2026. May your year ahead be as powerful as a supercomputer, as creative as artificial intelligence, and as full of surprises as quantum physics.
