IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Centre is a leading research, development, and innovation centre active in the fields of High-Performance Computing (HPC), Quantum Computing (QC), Data Analytics (HPDA), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and their applications. We have strong international links and employ about 200 scientific, technical, and administrative staff. At present, IT4Innovations is running two supercomputers: Karolina (15.7 PFlop/s) and Barbora (849 TFlop/s). IT4I is part of the consortium that operates Europe's largest supercomputer, LUMI, and provides its computing capacity to scientists from EuroHPC member states. A LUMI-Q quantum computer is planned for 2024. We are looking for an 

External Specialist

for the Advanced Data Analysis and Simulations Lab for project REFRESH - Research Excellence For REgion Sustainability and High-tech Industries (CZ.10.03.01/00/22_003/0000048), research program 3 - Research in the field of digitalisation and transformation of the energy in the position of Senior researcher I EL (M).

Activity description:                      

  • work in a research team focusing on digitalisation and transformation of the energy sector,               
  • conducting independent research and managing the work of junior researchers,              
  • developing cooperation with partners from the commercial sector and public organisations,              
  • participating in the preparation of national or international projects and publications.              

Full-time equivalent: part-time employment, 0.2-0.3

Type of job contract: fixed-term employment

Expected start of employment: 01.04.2024

We require:                       

  • doctoral degree in electrical engineering or related disciplines,  
  • long-term expertise in the energy industry and policy support (more than 10 years),      
  • experience in resilience and security of smart grids documented by at least 20 publications,       
  • experience in coupling power systems with other energy vectors such as hydrogen and modelling and simulation of power systems using advanced IT tools,
  • experience in the coordination of international teams,  
  • active knowledge of the English language.
