The Virtual Reality Lab is equipped with the following software tools:

Blender + Eevee renderer

Blender is a free and open-source 3D creation suite. It supports the entirety of the 3D pipeline—modelling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing and motion tracking, and video editing and 2D animation pipeline.

The Blender’s viewport (Eevee, Workbench) supports OpenXR for our VR headsets.

Blender + CyclesPhi renderer

The Blender’s viewport with Cycles does not directly supports OpenXR or OpenVR. We have extended our version of CyclesPhi with support both for remote rendering and OpenVR for VR headsets.

3D Slicer

3D Slicer is a free, open-source and multi-platform software package widely used for medical, biomedical, and related imaging research.

The SlicerVR extension enables users to interact with the 3D scene using virtual reality. The extension works with all OpenVR-compatible headsets.

Ansys EnSight

Ansys EnSight is a user-friendly, market-leading data visualization tool. It can handle large simulation datasets from all physics and engineering disciplines.

Ansys EnSight directly or via moreViz supports OpenGL Quad Buffer for stereo 3D display.

moreViz VR bridge

The moreViz VR bridge is a general tool designed to display the 3D content of any OpenGL application on our stereoscopic 3D powerwall or in our VR headsets.

The selected application does not have to have native support for the VR.
