Nearly 80 participants, 30 lectures, 11 invited speakers from six countries, and 30 presented posters. This is the balance of the four-day HPCSE 2022 conference, which took place from 16th to 20th May at the Hotel Soláň in the Beskydy mountains. The conference organized by IT4Innovations was held for the fifth time, but this time after a three-year break caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

As in previous years, the HPCSE 2022 conference brought together experts from the fields of high-performance computing, data analysis, artificial intelligence, applied mathematics, and many other disciplines that are closely related to supercomputing technologies. In addition to lectures presenting current research results or plans of scientific institutions, participants exchanged their experience while networking and during informal meetings.

Among others, the conference featured renowned names from among Czech and foreign experts. Some speakers came from far away. For example, Professor Tarek El-Ghazawi from George Washington University in the USA accepted the invitation and outlined the development of the next generation of supercomputers beyond ExaFLOPS. Other speakers included Andreas Lintermann, the coordinator of the EU Center of Excellence RAISE project, and Aamir Saeed Malik from Brno University of Technology, who specializes in brain research.

The programme included a poster section of research presentations. The whole Tuesday evening was devoted to it giving 30 scientists space there to present their research work. In addition to the work-related activities, the participants could indulge in an informal part of the programme, which included a Wednesday afternoon trip to the Pustevny Mountains.
