IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Centre is a leading research, development, and innovation centre active in the fields of High-Performance Computing (HPC), Quantum Computing (QC), Data Analytics (HPDA), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and their applications. We have strong international links and employ about 200 scientific, technical, and administrative staff. At present, IT4Innovations is running two supercomputers: Karolina (15.7 PFlop/s) and Barbora (849 TFlop/s). IT4I is part of the consortium that operates Europe's largest supercomputer, LUMI, and provides its computing capacity to scientists from EuroHPC member states. A LUMI-Q quantum computer is planned for 2024. We seek a Postdoc (researcher) for the Advanced Data Analysis and Simulations Lab. The position is suitable for both women and men.

We will accept incoming Ph.D. holders who have obtained their Ph.D. abroad, of non-Czech nationality, who are not residents of the Czech Republic, or have not spent more than 12 months in the Czech Republic in the last 36 months,

or

Ph.D. holders of Czech nationality who have long-term experience abroad. Long-term foreign experience can be considered to be at least 12 continuous months out of the last 36 months, either in the form of doctoral studies abroad or in the form of employment at a foreign scientific institution or in combination.

 

Candidate must be no more than 5 years post-Ph.D. (career breaks, e.g., maternity/parental leave; long-term illness are not counted).

This is a two-round selection process in which successful candidates from the faculty/institute selection process advance to the next round at the university-wide level.

 

Required expertise: Expertise in numerical simulations and optimisations, developing innovative mathematical models and their qualitative analysis.

Activity description:

  • conducting research and publishing under the guidance of an assigned mentor,
  • participating in the preparation and implementation of national or international projects,
  • continuously improving his/her qualifications,
  • contributing to the cooperation with partner institutions.

 

Full time equivalent: full-time employment

We require:

  • doctoral degree in mathematics or related disciplines,
  • a maximum of 5 years after defending the Ph.D. (not including career breaks, e.g., maternity/parental leave; long-term illness),
  • excellent publication track record,
  • active participation in national or international projects,
  • knowledge of numerical methods used for solving PDEs,
  • experience in numerical simulations and optimisations documented by at least 10 publications,
  • sound knowledge of how to develop innovative mathematical models,
  • excellent in qualitative analysis of the model to demonstrate its mathematical consistency,
  • active knowledge of the English language.
