Scientific Director: coordinates the implementation of eight research programmes of IT4Innovations, responsible for achieving research results both in basic and applied research

Before starting as the Scientific Director, he worked at the Department of Applied Mathematics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, which he had headed since 1992. He also gained experience working at universities abroad, namely at Universidade Estadual de Campinas in Brasil and the University of Zambia. He is a member of the Czech Mathematical Society – the Union of Czechoslovak Mathematicians and Physicists and a member of various foreign organizations such as GAMM (Germany), SIAM and AMS (USA). He has authored and co-authored many publications on numerical methods and has reviewed publications for many international magazines such as Mathematical Review and Zentralblatt fuer Mathematik.
