Rector of the VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava:

the highest representative of the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Centre

He has been the rector of the VŠB –Technical University of Ostrava since 2010. His greatest achievements include the establishment of the Department of Computer Science and fields of study that today have thousands of students and the foundation of the IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Centre. He has written 10 didactical publications and published more than 130 articles in professional magazines and other texts in both international and domestic conference proceedings. His experience from abroad includes ten years at the Department of Applied Mathematics at Montanuniversitat Leoben in Austria. He has worked on research programs for Software Research Labs, Texas Instruments, Inc. in Dallas and later as a consultant of the SBIR project financed by the US Department of Defense. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Research, Development and Innovation Council of the Czech Government. In 2005, he was awarded the honorary title “Branch Manager” for education. Two years later he was nominated as the Czech IT and Telecommunications Personality of Year.
