Information about the opportunity to obtain affordable services and access to the IT4Innovations supercomputer (HPC) Digital Innovation Hub Ostrava
IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava has received funding from the Moravian-Silesian Region for providing affordable services related to utilization of computational resources of the supercomputing centre. This support is intended for small and medium-sized enterprises which have their head or branch offices in the Moravian-Silesian Region. This is to be provided as de minimis support throughout the year 2020.The purpose of this support is to enable progressive small and medium-sized enterprises, including start-ups, to use supercomputing (HPC) technologies and expertise for developing their business. The support is conceived within the Digital Innovation Hub Ostrava, which is a consortium of IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center and Moravian-Silesian Innovation Centre Ostrava, a.s. (MSIC).
Support form: affordable services
Maximum support intensity for a project, i.e. the maximum nominal discount value can amount to as much as CZK 200,000 and has to represent the maximum of 80% of the total project costs.
The services will be provided as part of IT4Innovations commercial activities by concluding a respective agreement. The price is to be calculated by the method applied for typical commercial activities of IT4Innovations with the total (invoiced) price being lowered with the awarded price advantage (in the form of the granted discount).
Grant applications can be submitted continuously from publication of this information until September 31, 2020 or earlier if the respective funds provided are exhausted (this would be appropriately updated).
Implementation of the solution which is to be awarded the funds should be completed and accounted by the end of the year 2020.
In case of interest in this support, interested applicants shall contact IT4Innovations via the following e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org including DIH Ostrava as the subject indication. Applicants will then be contacted and informed how to prepare and submit the simplified Grant Application.
The project described in the Grant Application will be assessed by an expert committee comprising representatives appointed by IT4Innovations and MSIC based on the criteria mentioned below. In case of need, the respective applicant will be invited to present the given project at the meeting of this committee. The applicant will then be informed about the decision of the committee.
In case of positive application assessment, an agreement about providing affordable services related to utilization of computational resources and expertise of IT4Innovations. Together with the conclusion of the agreement, the applicant is obliged to submit De minimis self-declaration of an applicant.
Application assessment criteria
The application will be assessed based on the completed form submitted according to the following criteria:
- Necessity to use HPC infrastructure and services to ensure implementation of the desired solution;
- Prerequisite for significant commercial potential leading to future practical application of a given solution.
The application shall only be accepted upon receiving an affirmative opinion (“Yes”) in both of the above criteria.
The subsidy for the “Digital Innovation Center Ostrava – Pilot Verification” project is provided from the budget of the Moravian-Silesian Region (Contract No. 08183/2019/RRC).
