Our research in earth science aims to create and further develop powerful tools that will be used in the future development of the society in order to ensure its safety and provide assistance in emergency and crisis situations. We are working on applications that will predict flooded areas several hours in advance and that are able to timely identify traffic congestions and ensure that traffic is diverted in a way that prevents traffic collapse in other locations.

Such solutions rely on large amounts of data that need to be collected, stored in data storage devices and evaluated using efficient algorithms that are able to work with the data and provide the information that is required for efficient and competent decision making. All of the above issues require long-term oriented research and development that focuses on areas such as computational mathematics, intelligent systems, software engineering, Internet technologies and distributed applications.
