Collaboration with commercial sphere is at IT4I implemented mainly in the form of contracted research. This type of cooperation is the most suitable in case when the commercial partner is able define precisely its problem and IT4I is prepared to propose an optimal solution. A typical example of contracted research is optimization of already existing products. Another feature, but not a rule of such cooperation is that during the contracted research is not created a new intellectual property on the side of IT4I.

Collaborative research is another possible form of cooperation. During this type of research, the involved partners put their knowledge, experience, and resources into the project in order to achieve defined goal. In the course of such cooperation often emerges new intellectual property. A typical example of such cooperation is research which results in a new generation of a product. We also cooperate with partners from academic and application sphere (companies, public authorities) through joint research projects (co)funded from public resources. These are applied research projects co-financed e.g. by Technology Agency of the Czech Republic, or Moravian-Silesian Region, or projects in the field of fundamental research, partially funded by e.g. European Commission, or Czech Science Foundation. Thanks to the grant from the Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovations, we can support implementation of non-commercial research projects utilizing our supercomputer. Supercomputer represents a principal “tool” for implementation of the above mentioned types of cooperation, and is closely connected with options for allocation of computing time
