MicroChipOstrava supercomputer, until now known as the Big Cluster, to be named after a coal mine and banker – Salomon.

The name, selected by a committee from more than two thousand unique proposals from the public, refers to another of Ostrava’s former coal mines and also to the name of a famous banker, tightly connected with the region and coal and steel industry – Salomon Mayer Rotschild.

Author of the name is Petr Maršálek form Frýdlant nad Ostravicí.
